This project is the result of a collaborative partnership between Canterbury District Health Board, Ara Institute of Canterbury, and the University of Canterbury.
Manawa is a state-of-the-art facility that enables these organisations to collaborate, working towards the common goal of achieving the best outcomes for Canterbury’s health workforce.
Foundations pass through a gravel layer with the bearing capacity of the pile having to cope with varying inconsistencies of shallow and deep aquifers.
About the project
This state-of-the-art purpose-built facility houses health education, professional development, and research activities for CDHB, Canterbury University, and Ara. Delivered under an Early Contractor Involvement (ECI) and Build Only contract, the facility successfully provides highly serviced clinical training and research spaces right in the heart of Christchurch.
