About the role:
As the Design Manager (Electrical), you will be responsible for overseeing the design process, ensuring that client briefs, budgets, and buildability are met to deliver optimal solutions. You will lead the design team, manage client and stakeholder expectations, and provide technical expertise in electrical design. Additionally, you will have a secondary responsibility for Sustainability, specifically focusing on NabersNZ assessments to ensure our projects meet high environmental standards. Your role will involve close collaboration with various departments, contributing to the development of a sustainable and innovative design approach.
The Preformance Team is made up of professionals from diverse technical backgrounds. We use this diversity to collaboratively support each other in the delivery of our projects. In line with this approach, the Design Manager will have a strong capability in one technical discipline and be able to lead technical design reviews of consultant’s documents or support in resolving technical issues on projects.
As a pivotal member of the Pre-Construction team, the Design Manager must lead by example and positively contribute to the team, championing the Company’s ‘Inside the Box’ culture, leading delivery of projects in accordance with the Preformance Management Process. This will directly and indirectly be contributing towards day-to-delivery, competitive strategy and leading to technically and financially successful projects with net margin target achievement.
The role of Design Manager will also support Preformance Sustainability capability. As a key member in the sustainability team the Assistant Design Manager will work towards achieving a Homestar & Greenstar accreditation, with the goal of ultimately leading sustainability for projects and preparing Greenstar or Homestar submissions for Preformance & Southbase projects.
You will have:
Degree Qualified in Architecture / Engineering |
Professional Qualification (Architectural Registration or Chartered Professional Engineer) is desirable |
Experience: 6-10+ years as an Architect or Engineer in commercial construction |
Commercial Acumen: Able to drive viable design solutions which are lowest cost. Able to deliver professional services within given scope and fee constraints and assist in the resolution of scope changes or variations where required. |
BIM: Competent in the use of Revit. |
Communication Skills: Ability to work collaboratively with professionals from diverse technical backgrounds, facilitating knowledge sharing and supporting project delivery. |
Problem-Solving Skills: Ability to tackle design challenges with innovative solutions. |
