Papakura Courthouse Sod-Turning Ceremony

Justice Minister joins the Papakura Courthouse sod-turning, marking the first chapter of an important project for justice.

At the beginning of August, Justice Minister Paul Goldsmith, Courts Minister Nicole McKee, and MP for Papakura Judith Collins, visited the construction site of the future Papakura Courthouse for its sod-turning ceremony.

The new courthouse will be built on the old RSA site, a location that holds a special meaning for the local community.

As Justice Minister Paul Goldsmith highlighted during his visit, the new Courthouse will focus on the wellbeing of victims, placing better recognition at the centre of its design with, for example, a suite for vulnerable witnesses.

With the construction of the new courthouse, we’re taking a modern approach with the use of prefabricated modules built off-site for approximately half of the project. This is to respond quickly to demographic changes of a fast-growing South Auckland region.
