Our Management Team has been working together for over ten years. With significant industry experience behind them (over 25 years for some) they have delivered many of New Zealand’s best-known buildings.
We have 170 full time staff nationwide that is supported by Southbase Labour, a fully owned subsidiary of Southbase Construction. Southbase Labour currently has a direct and in-direct workforce of approximately 120 people, skilled in concrete and carpentry work.

Quin’s career has comprised of executive leadership roles in significant and complex projects in New Zealand, Australia and the UK. With extensive experience governing and directing highly successful project teams and committed to his hometown of Christchurch, Quin established Southbase in 2013. Quin leads Southbase by envisioning and empowering his team to work collaboratively, producing the very best results for their clients.

Leon has over 18 years of financial experience, 15 of which as a qualified chartered accountant. With experience in treasury, financial accounting, business combinations and reporting; as well as a track record of leading high performance teams, Leon brings rigorous accountability and fiscal peace of mind to the Southbase team.

Southern Regional Manager
Richard carried out his carpentry apprenticeship under the guidance of one of Christchurch’s building industry giants, Charles Luney. He has continued to advance his career in the building industry to now be one of the most respected and well-resourced project team leaders in Christchurch. Richard’s ability to get teams to achieve outstanding results is his trademark.

Northern Regional Manager
Will has extensive quantity surveying experience and is a highly qualified member of the Southbase team with a particular interest in large-scale construction. Will works methodically and places a great deal of importance in consistent communication with subcontractors, designers and the client, to ensure the “no surprises” policy of Southbase is adhered to.

Shawn has been working in the construction industry for over 20 years, beginning as an apprentice trade carpenter and working his way up to project manager roles on some of the most prestigious projects in the South Island. Throughout his career Shawn has gained a reputation for delivering high quality results in the most challenging projects, using his extensive knowledge in construction to manage the process from design right through to completion.

Compliance Manager
Carena is well known and respected in the local construction industry for her commitment to the delivery of sustainable energy efficient buildings. She has worked closely with the delivery teams responsible for Christchurch’s most sustainable buildings, including the Christchurch Civic Building, Club Tower and the Innovation Institute. Carena is a valuable expert in obtaining Code Compliance and Public Use Cerificates on large-scale construction projects.

Amanda has a solid background in the construction industry and is passionate about branding and marketing. Having worked closely over the years in the pre construction delivery phase, Amanda has developed an in-depth knowledge of tendering and is a competent bid writer. Amanda takes care of all company branding and marketing, ensuring everything that leaves the office is precise and of a high standard.

Health & Safety Manager
David has an extensive work history in regulatory compliance, investigation, analytical thinking and systems management and has gained the NEBOSH International Certificate in Occupational health and Safety along with the Incident causation analysis method (ICAM) certificate in construction work place accident investigations. David has significant experience in quantitative and qualitative risk assessments at both an organisational and operational levels. David applies his strong leadership skills to promote a work culture that encourages workers and subcontractors to look after each other, that views injuries and environmental incidents as unacceptable and ensures everyone goes home safe every day.

Since leaving university in 2008 Mathew has worked for one of the world’s largest defence contractors, delivering multi-billion dollar projects with construction partners across the Middle East. During that time he has been based in the United Kingdom, Germany and Saudi Arabia and is passionate about operational and strategic HR. His approach has been shaped from his genuine interest in people having absorbed international culture and employment practices over the past decade as a highly-engaging HR professional.
