Southbase is one of a few Tier 1 contractors certified as Toitū Net Carbon Zero. We hold internationally recognised ISO 14001 certification for our environmental management systems, independently audited and continually improved.
We are the only construction company of our scale to record and offset the emissions generated on our sites, in line with ISO 14064-1. We track carbon, water, fuel, waste and energy through our reporting platform, so clients know the impact of their project is measured and managed.
Our commitment reaches beyond the environment. We invest in the mental health of young people through Upstream, divert construction waste from landfill, and work to leave a positive legacy for the communities we build in.

It means our emissions are measured, managed and offset to an independently audited standard. We are the only construction company of our scale to include and offset the emissions generated on site, in line with ISO 14064-1.
We have a carbon reduction plan aligned to Toitū requirements: a 10% cut in scope 1 and 2 emissions by 2030 and a 30% cut in total emissions by 2050, both by revenue, alongside 100% renewable energy by the end of 2026.
We separate and recycle waste on site, design out waste early, and use prefabrication, which can cut waste by up to 70%. Nationally we divert 66% of our waste from landfill, well above the 50% target, and we are members of WasteMINZ.
Yes. We deliver Green Star buildings up to a 6 rating, with five Green Star Accredited Professionals and seven Practitioners on the team, and we have a proven track record delivering Homestar projects nationwide.
We have partnered with Upstream for five years, generating nearly $70,000 for the mental health of young people in the communities we work in. We are also a Sustainable Business Network Impact Investor and recycle old PPE and workwear through Workwear Recycled.
